How Do I Get a Quote?

We start the process when you leave your information by filling out the form on our website; first, we get a quick overview of the project from you and schedule a site visit.

A site visit is often required to measure and gauge the project’s scope – a quote can be made from a single site visit. However, if structural or complex changes are required, it is a longer process as we consult with engineers on the right approach.

How Long Does It Take To Get a Quote?

It takes two weeks from the initial site visit and up to four weeks if there are complexities or required structural changes.

At Brightside Renovations. We aim for a two-week turnaround time for all quotes. It’s essential to get on site, measure correctly, and think thoroughly to get a quote that resembles the right approach to the project and is accurate, so there are no surprises along the way.

Once the site visit is complete, we tally the material and labor costs. If structural changes are required in the renovation, we consult with experts on engineering and potential drawings, which may take more time.

What Items of the Quote are The Final Cost?

Any labour a contractor provides directly is often a cost commitment, whereas supplies or costs associated with sub-trades are estimates and may not be final.

All costs associated with sub trades (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, glass installation, etc.) are subject to subcontractor costs at Brightside Renovations. Work provided directly by Brightside Renovations is part of our cost commitment. Unless additional work is added to the original quote, we will stick to this commitment no matter what happens, so you have peace of mind that these costs are final.

What Does a Quote Look Like?

A contractor’s quote will provide an overview of the project, detailing the labor costs for the outlined items and all materials needed. If the project calls for subcontractors, like plumbers or electricians, the quote will also include an estimate for their costs.

At Brightside Renovations, we clearly outline what will be done and what will be covered by the provided estimate. We value honesty and transparency and commit to the labour costs outlined in our quotes. This is why site visits are critical and proper measurements are required.

In What Order Do You Renovate a House?

Renovating a house follows a logical sequence to ensure efficiency and avoid rework. The typical order is:
Planning & Permits – Define the project scope and secure necessary permits.
Demolition – Remove outdated or damaged materials.
Structural Work – Address framing, foundation, and any major structural changes.
Utilities – Rough-in plumbing, electrical, and HVAC before walls are closed.
Insulation & Drywall – Install insulation and finish walls.
Flooring & Paint – Apply paint before flooring to prevent damage.
Fixtures & Finishes – Install cabinets, trim, lighting, and final details.
Final Touches & Cleaning – Ensure everything is complete and ready for use.

What Can You Do to Keep the Budget Low When Renovating Your Home?

To keep renovation costs down:
Prioritize renovations – Focus on high-impact areas like kitchens and bathrooms.
Keep structural changes minimal – Avoid moving walls or relocating plumbing.
Use cost-effective materials – Look for quality alternatives to high-end finishes.
Refinish instead of replace – Repainting cabinets or refinishing floors can save money.
Plan thoroughly – Avoid last-minute changes that add costs.
