Heritage House Bathroom

This project took us back in time—literally. Built before indoor plumbing and electricity, this was the oldest home Brightside Renovations has ever worked on. After over 80 years without an update, the bathroom needed serious attention, and we were up for the challenge.

Working With the Past

From thick stone walls and cast iron drain pipes to uneven floors and outdated framing, this home presented the complexity you only find in heritage spaces. We began by tackling the infrastructure—leveling the floors, reinforcing the walls, and replacing all plumbing to finally eliminate the bulky exposed drain.

Modern Comfort, Classic Charm

We installed spray foam insulation for improved warmth and moisture resistance and created a custom shower space that worked around the home’s large, original windows. The finishing touches included Italian-made hexagon tiles, premium grout, and carefully considered design choices that respect the home’s character while delivering modern functionality.

A Timeless Transformation

The result is a space that nods to the past and the context of the original Dundas neighbourhood while fully embracing the present, adding beauty and value to this one-of-a-kind heritage home.
